If you want to seriously pursue interior design as a career you need to forget about the money and focus on learning how to do the work and educate yourself. About jobs, there’s a lot of competition but each country has a specific reality in terms of how easy is to get internships and work.You need to find that by yourself.
I would add that you should do it for the right reasons, meaning: don’t do it because it sounds a cool job, or because designers seem so interesting, or because you want to get rich/famous. You need to find if you really like to work on what this career involves.
An interior designer can also work as a stylist for magazines, shops and advertising. These are just some ideas because every type of visual creative work tends to give you many different job possibilities if you pursue them and are open to learn:)
